Laurie McInally (she/her) is a Glasgow-born, Dundee-based, multi-media artist and curator. Her work is in response to the lived experience, as she explores internalised views on gender, class and sexuality while investigating and challenging the social structures that inherently feed these attitudes. Laurie’s work offers deeply personal and inclusive overtones, which support the more challenging themes of her practice.
The composition of her social environment provides her with the materials that she encounters in daily life. Re-contextualising objects that exist in the spaces between her home, work and the school run.
The aesthetic of domesticity and civic familiarity play a vital role in her practice. Reclaiming connotations of the home as well as harnessing the power of repeated imagery to relate the viewer to the experience of her work.
Most recently Laurie has had a collaborative show with award winning artist, Maella Wallace, at The Federation Gallery, Dundee. She graduated from Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design with first-class honours 2022, and received a Master of Fine Art with distinction in 2024.
